Question #8
How much medication or vaccination do you give an animal?
The amount depends on the animals weight and illness. It also depends on if the animal is strong enough to take the medication. Some animals can be allegic to the medication so therefore you have to be very careful about the medication you give them. Different kinds of animals can handle different kinds of medication than others can some just can't handle it at all.

The finding I found to be very interesting because I love animals and everything I found answered all the questionsI had in my research. It made me feel like I really want this job as my career. I hope when I go to college I can get this career I like and be able to make it a living for me one day. I use google and a vet website to find my answers to my questions. I love this job more than ever now that I have found out more about it and learn more than I knew about the career of my chose for the rest of my life.
question #7
what kinds of medication are there for animals?
Similar to human vaccines, animal vaccines are administered to prevent diseases from occurring in animals. Routinely vaccinating animals is often more affordable than paying for the treatment of sick animals, reduces transmission of microorganisms in the animal population, and reduces animal suffering. Pets are often given vaccines for infectious diseases such as rabies, parvovirus, distemper and hepatitis. Livestock animals, such as turkeys, chickens and cattle, are vaccinated to protect against diseases such as rotavirus, E. coli, pinkeye and brucellosis.
The proper application of vaccines to animal populations has enhanced their health and welfare, and prolonged their life expectancies. The goal of a vaccination program is to prevent or reduce disease, and thereby promote optimal patient, herd and public health. Even though some formerly common diseases have now become uncommon, vaccination is still highly recommended because these serious disease agents continue to thrive in certain environments.
Types of Animal Vaccines
Animal vaccines are part of a broader category of animal medicines called veterinary biologics (VB). VB products work primarily through the stimulation of the immune system in order to prevent or treat diseases.

"What Kind of Degree Do I Need to Be a Veterinarian?
Veterinarians are healthcare workers specializing in care for pets, competition animals, laboratory animals and livestock. Prospective professionals in this field must first complete an undergraduate program focusing on biology or pre-veterinary study followed by a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program.
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine
To become a veterinarian, a candidate must earn a DVM from an accredited college or university. Many veterinary school graduates go on to complete 1-year, unpaid internships under supervision. As post-graduate students, veterinarians can also complete 3-4 year residencies if they wish to become board certified in a specialty area of veterinary medicine.

Educational Prerequisites
DVM program applicants must submit GRE scores, letters of recommendation, essays and academic transcripts. A bachelor's degree isn't necessarily required in order to enter a veterinary program, but applicants must have a designated number of undergraduate credit hours completed. However, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), most applicants hold a bachelor's degree (www.bls.gov). Many schools also look for candidates who have experience working or volunteering in veterinary clinics or similar settings.Program Coursework
The curriculum for veterinary medicine students includes classroom-based lectures, seminars and lab work. Coursework focuses on animal health, animal behavior, anesthesiology and veterinary ethics. To gain hands-on experience, candidates participate in clinical rotations during the third and fourth years of the DVM program. Clinicals allow students to explore various areas of veterinary medicine, like small animal surgery, emergency care for animals and dermatology.Licensing
Licensing is required in all states before veterinarians can practice. To obtain licensure, an individual must pass the North American Veterinary Licensing Examination (NAVLE). This computer-based test is offered during two separate periods each year at Prometric testing sites. Students have 6.5 hours to complete the 360 multiple-choice questions of the NAVLE. In addition, aspiring veterinarians may be required to take state-administered exams.Employment Outlook and Salary Info
Veterinarian employment was expected to grow 33% from 2008-2018, notes the BLS. As of 2011, the United States has 28 accredited schools of veterinary medicine that graduate approximately 2,500 students per year. The limited number of new veterinarians contributes to employment growth within the field. Most veterinarians work in private practices, hospitals, clinics, universities and government agencies. question #3
how many hours they work?
the number of hours they work is between 50 or more hours depending on the office hours during the week. Depending on the type of vet office it is is very important on how many hours they work or how busy they are and how bad the animal is sick and needs there help.

question #1
the things veterinarian do during their job is take care of animals, and feed them, give them medication. Some other things that they do is they also give animals wellness check up. Also they give animals vaccinations to make the animal fighht many sicknesses. Some vets keep the animals if they are very sick and can go home with their owner. Most vets have great amount of responsibilies when it comes to animals and their health and well being. Animals are a very important part in some people life's because they are very good safety and security animals depending on the species and kind of animal it is. Most of the animals today are slowly dieing off due to the different kinds of sicknesses so that's the main reason we have vets to help keep the animals well and healthy. Veterinarians risk their own live around dangerous animals to keep them well. Many vets don't risk their life because they mostly work with small animals like dogs, cats, birds, chinchillas, hamsters, ect. The kind of work I want to do is work wit all kinds of animals of many kinds and species. I rather risk my life to help save the animals than let them slowly die off to where we don't have many animals left. To become a very succsessful vet I have to take many classes dealing with science and math. This is what many veterinarian do during their work life.

As I begin my search, I have many questions, and I'm sure more will develop during this process. (I have found that the more I learn about most subjects, the more questions and fewer answers I have!) Right now, my overarching essential question is "what kind of life style do veterinarians live" To find answers to this broad inquiry, I will look for answers to more specific questions, such as
1. What I do during this job?
2. What I like about this job?
3. What classes I need for this job?
4. How many hours I work?
5. What kind of animals do I take care of?

The career I am most interested in is being a veterinarian. This field deals with primarily with taking care of sick, well and hurt animals all day long. While at school I needed Physical Education, Science, History, Spanish electives. The skills I need for my career are I need to be able to handle animals, and make quick decisions. Most veterinarians work long hours on many animal depending on how serious it is. I need to do my volunteering soon so I can learn what to do when I go to college I will know what to do when I go to get the classes I need.
